Field Communication (RS485 + TCP)

  • Direct device polling over an RS485 serial line using a proprietary hex frame protocol (address, command, checksum byte)
  • Mixed-mode communication with TCP/IP field devices; serial and network devices in the same system
  • Automatic discovery, selection and authorization of USB/serial ports on Linux
  • Timeout and retry management for sending commands and reading responses at a fixed 9600 baud rate
  • Filtering out its own echo to process only genuine device responses

Rule Engine and Automation

  • Threshold-based rules: triggered when a sensor value exceeds or falls below a defined target (>, <, =, ≠)
  • Time-triggered rules: scenarios that run automatically at a set time (HH:mm)
